Brief:
A.C. Special Projects Ltd. has supplied a colour changing LED lighting system for the “Wave”, an iconic new sculpture which takes pride of place in the new look plaza at the heart of Blackpool town centre. The giant wind charm-like “Wave” was designed by Somerset artist Lucy Glendinning to capture the spirit and energy of the seaside.
A.C. Special Projects were approached to specify and supply a suitable LED lighting system for the sculpture. The company chose the Philips ColorGraze Powercore®, an IP66 low maintenance fixture that would be tough enough to withstand the weather elements and require minimal servicing once the statue was fixed into position. In keeping with the theme of the sculpture, A.C. supplied Anolis ArcSource LED fixtures to light up five clear resin giant pebbles surrounding the “Wave” in various different colours. The pebbles also provide an informal seating area for those who want to sit and relax.
