A.C. Lighting Special Projects Division upgrade The Electric

The Special Projects division of A.C. Lighting Limited, recently completed an extensive upgrade of the architectural and stage lighting systems at London's historic Electric Cinema in Portobello Road. Originally constructed in 1901 the Electric was one of England's first purpose built cinemas, and remains today much as it was when first built, largely due to the restoration work carried out in recent years. It is claimed the Electric is the oldest cinema building in England still being used for its intended purpose.
Peter Keiderling of A.C. Special Projects managed the upgrade installation, working to the successful lighting design of Patrick Woodroffe and associate lighting designer, Adam Basset.
Generic lighting comprises twenty-seven Par 36, 50W medium flood, and eight Par 56 300W lantern fixtures fitted with light blue filters. These provide general illumination in the auditorium and key lighting in the bar area, which can be dimmed using the Pulsar 12 way Datapak specified as part of the upgrade.
Atmospheric lighting for pre and post-feature moments consists of four Martin Mac 300 moving yoke wash lights, and two Mac 250 moving yoke spotlights, these were connected via a Jands DD 8 way DMX splitter/ buffer and controlled using a Pulsar Masterpiece replay unit.
