A.C. Lighting Supplies Fixtures for Museum in Docklands
09th July 2003
A.C. Lighting's Projects Division has supplied a number of standard and custom fixtures for installation in the recently opened Museum In Docklands.
The museum explores the story of London's River, Port and People, from Roman settlement of the port, through to its recent regeneration as Canary Wharf - a 2000 year storyline.
Stretching over five floors in a converted Georgian warehouse, which is itself an integral part of the overall visitor experience, the museum contains 12 major galleries and a children's gallery.
Many of the museum's thousands of objects are unique, having been rescued during the 1970s and 80s after containerisation and competition forced London's port to move downstream.
The galleries, which include engravings, paintings, testimonies and photographs, required a lighting design which would create a strong impact and contrast between collections, whilst still conforming to conservation guidelines.
Prominent Lighting Designer for the project, David Atkinson, called upon the services of A.C. Lighting's Projects Division to supply a number of fixtures, including 86 x Spotlight Mini Fresnel 150W discharge luminaires, 35 x 50W Altman Micro Ellipse, 8 x 70W CDM-T Altman Master Ellipse, 539 x Thomas PAR 16s, 8 x Strand Quartet PCs and 5 x ETC Source 4 HID zooms.
